As
Clerk of Works,
you will inspect construction work at every stage to ensure that contractors and subcontractors adhere strictly to contract documentation and deliver work of a consistently high quality in a safe manner. You will own the quality assurance and handover process for completed works as allocated by the Quality Project Manager, collaborating closely with Project Managers and other delivery leads to review specifications, plans and TAC/JCT contract documents against the Group's Design Brief and Employers' Requirements, highlighting any areas of concern and ensuring alignment across the business.
As technical challenges arise on site, you will use your delegated authority to diagnose issues and recommend corrective actions through the Project Managers, ensuring progress remains effective and on schedule. You will attend project meetings and conduct spot-check inspections of works in progress, as well as full snagging and pre-handover inspections, to identify improvements and drive quality. Accurate record-keeping is essential: you'll produce digital weekly reports, log any variations, snagging items and health and safety notes, and keep Project Managers and Safety Hub fully informed of progress or safety issues in real time.
This role will be based in our Farringdon office and offers hybrid working arrangements between office, site visits and work from home. Most projects will be located across
Surrey
and
Sussex
. This role is offered on
Fixed Term Basis
until
25 September 2026
and required a valid UK driving license and access to vehicle.
What you'll need:
HND/C-level qualification or equivalent experience and valid CSCS card
Member of ICWCI, or CIOB, or working towards.
SMSTS or relevant professional certification
Proven background as a property maintenance professional or Clerk of Works and in-depth knowledge of housing construction, component replacement, and defect avoidance
Familiarity with building regulations, codes of practice, and CDM/health and safety legislation
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and digital inspection tools (tablets/PDAs)
Confident working with minimal supervision and managing your own workload
