Job Overview



We are seeking an aspiring legal professional or experienced legal assistant to join our team as a

Legal Intake Specialist & Junior Paralegal Support

. This is not a standard call centre role; it is a critical position within our legal team, acting as the first line of defence in assessing claim viability.

You will support our Solicitors and Fee Earners by conducting initial legal triage, overcoming language barriers for non-English speaking clients, and preparing detailed case summaries. This role requires a candidate who can apply legal principles to factual scenarios, identifying valid heads of claim in Personal Injury and Housing Disrepair matters.

Key Responsibilities



1. Legal Triage & Client Intake:



Conduct comprehensive initial consultations with potential clients to establish the facts of the case (Liability, Causation, and Quantum). Assess the merits of new enquiries regarding

Workplace Accidents (EL)

,

Public Liability (PL)

, and

Housing Disrepair

against current legal criteria. Identify potential issues with limitation periods or liability disputes early in the process.

2. Junior Paralegal Support:



Draft detailed

Attendance Notes

and

Case Summaries

for review by the supervising Solicitor. Assist in the preparation of the

Claim Notification Form (CNF)

for the MOJ Portal. Explain complex legal terminology and the "No Win, No Fee" (CFA) funding arrangement to clients in their native language (Punjabi, Romanian, or Portuguese). Assist with initial compliance checks, including

Anti-Money Laundering (AML)

ID verification and client onboarding.

3. Evidence Gathering & Liaison:



Guide clients on the collection of initial evidence (e.g., photos of housing defects, accident location details, witness contact info). Act as the primary bridge between the Solicitor and non-English speaking clients throughout the early stages of the claim. Maintain the Case Management System (CMS) with accurate, legally privileged notes.

Essential Requirements



Language Skills:

Native or fluent proficiency in

Punjabi, Romanian, or Portuguese

is essential. You must be comfortable translating legal concepts accurately.

Legal Background:

Current Law Student (LLB/LPC/SQE) or previous experience as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal is highly preferred.

Technical Knowledge:

A basic understanding of the Pre-Action Protocol for Personal Injury or Housing Conditionsis a distinct advantage.

Communication:

Exceptional telephone manner with the ability to handle sensitive matters (e.g., serious injury) with empathy and professionalism.

Drafting Skills:

Ability to write clear, concise, and grammatically correct English notes for legal files.

Preferred Skills



Experience using Legal Case Management Software (e.g., Proclaim, LEAP, Eclipse). Previous exposure to working within a regulated law firm environment (SRA/Law Society standards). Ability to work independently on "ad-hoc" legal research tasks as requested by the legal team.
