The Caribou Climate & Space team focuses on using digital approaches to catalyse local and global responses to the unprecedented challenges of an interconnected, warming world. We support a range of governments, private sector companies, and donor organisations in harnessing digital innovation via technologies such as satellite Earth Observation data to navigate complexity, optimise resource use, and accelerate positive, sustainable development and climate resilience outcomes.


We are seeking a European-based Caribou Climate & Space Associate to support the existing team within a highly client-facing role. This role blends the need for in-depth technical understanding of Earth Observation data, and broader satellite technologies, with contextual experience and knowledge of the sustainable development funding landscape and climate resilience sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Within the context of the application of Earth Observation and satellite technology to sustainable development and climate resilience outcomes - the candidate will:


Deliver strategic advisory services to support the adoption at scale of Earth Observation in sustainable development operations and programming. Understand the priorities, policies, and processes of global development actors such as National Development Agencies, Private Foundations, and International Financial Institutions - and the role of Earth Observation and satellite technology to support budget allocations and funding flows. Conduct trends analysis and research on the use of Earth Observation data in decision-making, with a focus on low- and middle-income country government environments. Support the maintenance of a knowledge management system to track the design and development of Earth Observation data products targeting the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Provide technical oversight on the use of EO products in a number of thematic areas (urban environments, disaster risk management, transport, climate adaptation, health) with a view to removing barriers to user uptake and 'on the ground' impact in low- and middle-income countries. Distill technical information on Earth Observation for non-technical audiences through compelling communications materials and impact stories.

Candidate profile

Essential Skills & Experience




7+ years of experience in consulting, program management, or similar roles, within the Earth Observation, space, and/or sustainable development sectors. Professional or academic experience of developing or interpreting Earth Observation data products/ geospatial techniques. Ability to navigate complex and ambiguous client-facing situations, tasks, and problems, and synthesise clear, actionable analysis and recommendations. Confident communicator, comfortable working in client-facing roles with a range of organisations across diverse geographies and cultures. Highly organised and "hands-on", with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, with consistent, on-time management of projects and tasks. Strong writing and synthesis skills, to be used in combination with quantitative, analytical skills. Very high fluency in written and spoken English.

Desirable Skills & Experience




An existing profile and network within the Earth Observation, space, and/or sustainable development sectors. Experience working within, or on behalf of organisations in Asia, Africa, and/or Latin America.
