Clinic Support Worker / Receptionist

Job Description

The Clinic Support Worker will work in the Amputation and Prosthetic Rehabilitation Unit supporting adults and children in an outpatient setting. They will be the first point of contact in the service, offering great patient centred care to signpost and assist with the smooth running of the service.



They are part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of prosthetists, allied health and medical staff, providing the highest standard of individualised care to all patients and their families and carers in the outpatient department.



The main duties will involve:



Communication and Liaison e,g, meeting and welcoming patients to their appointments, liaising with team members to update on patient attendance



Clinical tasks with patients, including acting as a chaperone, monitoring patients health and wellbeing



Physical tasks e.g. supporting with toileting and personal hygiene, supporting with refreshments



Appointment bookings e.g good IT skills with entering patient demographics

As first point of contact for patients and carers entering the service, it will be important to have great people skills with good communication. A caring and friendly approach will be important.



Post-holders will be responsible for co-ordinating the administrative, physical and psychological care of patients attending clinics for consultation and treatment.



They work throughout the department on a rotational basis, in the clinical area and in medical records prepping as well expanding pre-screening aspect of the service.



The post holder will effectively handle telephone calls, email correspondence, process referrals and book appointments, whilst ensuring that patients or visitors receive any information, they need prior to accessing our services.
