We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Ear Care & Hearing Health Assistant to join our team in delivering vital ear cleaning and hearing support services. This role is well-suited to individuals with experience as a beautician (NVQ Level 3), healthcare assistant, audiology support worker, or nursing assistant who are looking to expand their clinical skills in a specialised and growing field.
You will be responsible for performing ear irrigation and microsuction, conducting hearing screenings, supporting consultations, and helping patients understand their ear and hearing health. Full training can be provided for the right candidate with the right foundation and clinical aptitude.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Carry out ear irrigation and microsuction procedures for wax removal, following strict hygiene and safety protocols
Support the practitioner during consultations and ear assessments
Conduct basic hearing screenings, referring patients on to audiologists if further testing is required
Manage patient records, including treatment outcomes and referrals
Prepare and maintain clinical rooms and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and infection control standards
Educate patients on aftercare and ear health best practices
Liaise with audiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
Support general practice operations, including appointment scheduling and patient follow-ups
Ideal Backgrounds
We welcome applicants from the following fields who are looking to expand their scope into audiology and ear care:
NVQ Level 3 Beauticians (especially those with experience in advanced treatments or clinical skincare)
Health Care Assistants with patient-facing experience
Audiologist Assistants or those with experience in hearing clinics
Nursing Assistants or individuals with experience in general medical practice or community health
Qualifications and Skill
NVQ Level 3 or relevant health/beauty qualification preferred
Experience in a clinical, care, or treatment-based environment
Excellent communication and patient care skills
Willingness to train in ear wax removal procedures (ear irrigation and/or microsuction)
Confident, calm, and professional manner
Good record-keeping and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Willingness to undergo training in CryoPen, microsuction, ear irrigation, and IPL if not already qualified
