We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Coding Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical records and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and attention to detail to maintain the integrity of patient data.
Duties
Scan letters and correspondence into the patient clinical records in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy.
Review and analyse patient records to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
Accurately clinically coding data on the clinical system into the patient record
Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed action
Filing and storing records as require
Photocopying documentation as required
Scanning patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients' healthcare records
Inputting data into patients' healthcare records as necessary
Carrying out system searches as requested
Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
Supporting all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
Experience
Proven experience as a Coding Specialist or similar role in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Proficient in using clinical systems EMIS
Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills are essential.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
