Job Description

The successful candidate will work 4 days per week and provide a split role for the department.



They will be responsible for providing decontamination support to the Cath labs on each day; this will include daily checks, cleaning of TOE probes for the department, monitoring training and service records.



When not providing this service, they will be supporting the TOE service which is run from C602 Day Case and work in a clinical role to assist with observations, provision of equipment, transfer of patients and supporting the team.



Both roles will require accurate record keeping.

The candidate will always be professional and demonstrate trust values. Demonstrate confidentiality, compassion and sensitivity when delivering care, always w orking within UHBW guidelines and polices.



Clinically deliver high standards of care and practice role specific competencies. Actively supporting patients during their stay, whilst working to enable timely discharge. Initiate and participate with emergency care when required.



Decontamination role includes undertaking equipment checks, monitoring service records and escalating faults. Cleaning, storage and provision of TOE scopes for service provision. Maintaining the Decontamination room, organising equipment services, record/archive cleaning records and monitor stock levels.



In both roles, ensuring clinical areas are prepared and maintained as appropriate to service delivery. Always maintaining clear, concise records and documentation. Demonstrating good communication and team working skills to deliver the best care to our patients. Identifying service improvements, s hare good practice and providing training when required. Undertaking safe transfer of patients/ equipment. Use trust IT to deliver care and service provision. Report complaints, incidents and identify potential risks, and co-operate with official investigations when required.



Maintain responsibility for own continuing educational and development needs, including appraisals, personal development plan and audits.

The Clinical Decontamination Assistant is a member of the direct care team who supports practitioners to meet patient needs. The Clinical Decontamination Assistant will be responsible for overseeing the Cath Lab decontamination service, which include working with a variety of clinical teams to provide timely safe equipment for procedures. The Clinical Decontamination Assistant will maintain accurate records and oversee equipment serving and maintenance. They will also be responsible for providing care and therapy to patients as delegated by the Registered Nurse or appropriate team leader. They will be expected to undertake a range of duties and will be required to report back on those delegated duties to a senior Registered Nurse, working under the direction of the Cath Lab Manager and Cath Lab Sister. They will be competent to provide compassionate care to agreed quality standards. The role will continue to develop through the development of further skills, knowledge and competencies that will be determined within the clinical nursing team through ongoing assessment and the needs of the Cath Labs and Day Case service to deliver patient care.
