Clinical Director – West Hampstead

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Shape a brand new purpose-built clinic. Lead with heart. Redefine what exceptional care feels like.

If you're ready to lead without losing yourself

If you're an experienced vet who loves the clinical work, but is craving the chance to shape a team, build a culture, and make medicine feel joyful again, this role may be exactly the fresh start you have been looking for.

The Opportunity

We are working with a brand new, purpose-built, small animal clinic in West Hampstead, that is opening its doors for the very first time. This is not a case of stepping into someone else's legacy. This is your chance to create it.

They are building something special here: a beautifully designed space, a model centred on genuine continuity and membership-based care, and a culture where people and animals come first. What they need now is a Clinical Director, who shares those values and wants the autonomy to build a team from the ground up.

You will be the clinical leader and the heartbeat of the practice. You will shape the standards, guide the team, influence the strategy, and help turn a thoughtful concept into a thriving community clinic, and you will not be doing it alone. You will have strong support from a Practice Director, a Nursing Director, and a leadership team that truly listens.

If you want to lead, inspire and still spend most of your time being a vet, this is a rare and meaningful opportunity.

Why This Role Is Different

Clinical leadership with genuine autonomy

You will spend

80 percent

of your time clinically, while guiding the team to deliver the highest standards of care. You will set clinical direction, drive governance, organise audits, and ensure everyone works to the top of their qualifications.

A start-up clinic with strong support

Although this is a brand new site, you will not be left to figure things out alone. You will work closely with senior leaders across HR, recruitment, marketing, membership and client experience. Think of it as autonomy with a safety net.

A purpose-built environment designed for excellence

This is a clinic created intentionally, not retrofitted. The layout supports teamwork, calm workflows and exceptional patient care. Every detail has been thought through to allow you and your team to do your best work.

A culture where wellbeing is not a slogan

You will nurture a respectful, open, inclusive culture where concerns are noticed early and support is easy to access. Mental health first aid, honest conversations, Vetsafe reporting and a no-blame approach are part of everyday life.

Real influence on business performance

From membership growth, to financial strategy, to time-to-break-even, you will guide the local plan. You will use KPIs purposefully, understand the P and L, oversee complaint management, and help shape the future direction of the clinic.

Your Journey Here

In your first month:

You will settle in clinically, get to know your team, and immerse yourself in the practice model. You will begin shaping processes and gaining trust as the figurehead of the clinic.

By three months:

You will be confidently directing clinical standards, supporting the Practice and Nursing Directors, and driving membership and client experience targets. You will have begun implementing audits and quality improvements.

By six months:

You will have firmly established the culture, grown your clinical team, influenced financial performance, and positioned the clinic as a respected presence in the local community.
