We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Clinical Educator to join our clinical teams and support our growing workforce to deliver excellent healthcare.

Practice Plus Group Hospital Plymouth has a CQC Good rating and provides excellent healthcare to the population of Plymouth and the south west region, including Cornwall, Isles of Scilly and all of Devon. We are an elective surgical centre providing arthroplasty surgery, orthopaedics, general surgery, endoscopy and cataract surgery.
The clinical services include Outpatients, Day Surgery Unit, Inpatient Ward, Theatres, Endoscopy suite, Radiography, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy, with care provided by a multidisciplinary team.
The Clinical Educator role is a brand new role and will be a part of the hospital governance team.

As a Clinical Educator, you will:

  • Inspire and Teach; sharing your knowledge, skills and passion through the development, provision and review of educational sessions for a diverse group of healthcare professionals and learners.
  • Innovate and Lead; supporting improvements in patient care and outcomes by providing innovative training, simulation sessions and advise that provide evidence-based clinical training. You will have the opportunity to contribute to improvement projects and audit.
  • Make an Impact: Directly contribute to improvements in patient care and out comes through providing training for, as well as advise and support during and after emergencies.
This is a Full time vacancy -37.5 hours per week.

What you'll be doing
The Clinical Educator role is part of the hospital governance team working closely with all clinical departments and the multidisciplinary team.
What you will be doing - key tasks:
  • To lead the development and delivery of training, education, professional development across the hospital.
  • To support the nursing team and allied health professionals to meet the requirements of their role, regulatory and professional bodies.
  • To support and develop the nursing teams and allied health professionals to consistently deliver the highest possible standards of care and patient experience.
  • Promote a lifelong learning culture providing high level professional leadership for the delivery of workforce development

What we'll look for in you
What we will look for in you
  • NMC Registered Nurse Adult
  • Evidence of level 6 education
  • PGCE/or equivalent- or be willing to complete
  • A qualification in teaching and assessment in clinical practice (i.e., mentorship)
  • Practice Supervisor and Assessor Qualification - or be willing to complete.
  • Experience of clinical practice in an acute setting -Level 1 experience will be an advantage.
  • Experience of teaching clinical skills e.g., catheterisation, venepuncture, ECGs -Orthopaedic Nursing experience will be an advantage.
  • Ability to teach/train nursing staff
  • Ability to monitor and control resources
  • Able to meet the needs of the patients
