Applications are welcomed for x3 12 month senior fellowship posts commencing in August 2025, October 2025 and October 2026 at the Colorectal and Peritoneal Oncology Centre (CPOC), based at The Christie NHS FT, Manchester - UK Europe's largest single site cancer hospital.



We are looking to recruit fellows for three upcoming post:



CPOC fellowship in Advanced Colorectal Cancer and Peritoneal Surface Malignancy - commencing in August 2025

RCS/ACPGBI Advanced Pelvic Malignancy Fellowship - commencing in October 2025

RCS/ACPGBI Advanced Pelvic Malignancy Fellowship - commencing in October 2026



This surgical oncology fellowship aims to provide an opportunity to develop consultant-level decision-making and gain significant hands-on experience in the management of advanced rectal cancer (TME, beyond TME, and recurrent cancer), advanced colorectal cancer, appendix tumours, and anal cancer. We are also a centre for neuroendocrine tumours, retroperitoneal sarcoma, and advanced pelvic malignancies (gynaecological and urological). Over 350 major and complex surgical resections are performed at the unit each year. CPOC hosts six registrars/ fellows with equal opportunities to engage with the unit's activities with an expectation for the fellow to be first assistant/supervised surgeon in 50-70 complex and major



cases during their fellowship year. The appointees will gain significant experience in cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS/HIPEC), multivisceral resections, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery. CPOC fellows will also be involved in CPOC research activities and in the unit's surgical education activities. This will include faculty membership on The Christie Advanced Pelvic Malignancy Cadaveric Workshop and The Christie FRCS Part 2 course. Fellows will also have the opportunity to be mentored on the ESSO/PSOGI European School of Peritoneal Surface Oncology Training Programme.



This fellowship is in colorectal, pelvic, and peritoneal tumour management. The successful candidate will gain experience in the management of primary and advanced colorectal cancer, recurrent colorectal cancer, anal cancer, pelvic oncology, and appendix tumours. This will place the successful candidate in an ideal position to pursue a consultant career in cancer surgery. These fellowship posts are designed for senior trainees who are within 12-months of or post CCT.

The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. Duration and Monitoring of the Programme



This fellowship is for 12 months. The next available post is due to commence in October 2023. The post is based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Wilmslow Road, Manchester M20 4BX. The post-holder will be allocated an Assigned Educational Supervisor for the year.
