Job Description

As a Clinical Health Care Support Worker in Trauma Orthopaedics at Pilgrim Hospital, you will work under the supervision and delegation of a Registered Nurse to deliver a high standard of care to our patients in accordance with their individualised care needs, utilising flexible, innovative and effective practice that demonstrates that our patients are at the centre of everything we do.



We are looking for highly motivated individuals who want to work in a busy and demanding environment. They must have excellent communication and time management skills, be able to use their own initiative, work effectively and enjoy being part of a team. As a Clinical Health Care Support worker, they will be expected to undertake nutritional rounding, observations, toileting and personal care. There will be the opportunity to develop and undertake training to carry out simple wound care, ECGs, Venepuncture and Cannulation.

The successful candidates will work within an established Trauma Orthopaedic team, carrying out essential patient care under the direction and supervision of a qualified nurse.



Previous experience of working in a health/care setting is desirable but not essential as training will be given. The successful applicants will receive a Trust induction program and will be supported to develop extended roles such as venepuncture, medical observations and other clinical skills. The position will involve all aspects of patient care, with a wide variety of patients with diverse nursing needs.



The role will involve working alongside the nurses on the ward to deliver an excellent positive care experience. Whilst working as an effective and responsible member of the team you will consistently work with legislation, policies, procedures and other quality approaches whilst adhering to ULHT values and standards.



Pilgrim Hospital is situated beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.



Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.



Lincoln Hospital is a thriving university city and with the opening of the medical school, it provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service



United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status, after demonstrating evidence to significant teaching commitment. From now on it will be known as United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.



Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.



This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.



The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).
