To provide day to day support to the Home Manager for all clinical management issues. To take the lead on care planning and medication management. Ensuring a high standard of care is delivered, in a safe and homely environment, following the Home's policies and procedures and CQC guidelines.
Rota basis
Sunday through Saturday
36 hours per week
Rate of pay is 21.00 to 22.00 per hour plus a PRP bonus paid of up to a further 1.00 per hour.
Responsibilities to include the following:
Follow instructions as requested by the Home Manager and ensure the Home Manager is notified of any issues that require their attention as soon as possible.
Ensure that information collected during the performance of duties is kept confidential.
Keep all residents' records secure in locked nurse stations and lockable cabinets so that confidentiality is maintained at all times. Maintain secure access to PCS electronic care plans.
Be responsible for the day to day monitoring of care staffing levels ensuring that these comply with CQC requirements, liaising with the Home Manager on any difficulties.
Be responsible for the allocation of care staff to ensure there is appropriate skill mix and equitable work load to provide a high quality service to residents. Be responsible for completing the Duty Allocations Sheet for care staff on a daily basis.
Oversee and manage the Home's medication administration and management systems, including ordering, stock control, storage and administration of all medications. Conduct formal weekly or monthly audits as required and report all results and any concerns to the Home Manager.
Ensure the Home's procedures on health and safety, emergencies and fire procedures are implemented.
Ensure that all staff are familiar with the fire evacuation procedures.
Be aware of the fire procedures and attend Fire Marshall training as required by the Home Manager.
Ensure that residents have access to the services of a GP who is acceptable to each resident. Also ensure that all residents are reviewed by their GP on a monthly basis.
Monitor communication with, and where necessary liaise with and assist, medical and paramedical staff regarding care and treatment of residents and ensure that all treatments and instructions are carried out and recorded appropriately.
Ensure that adequate supplies of nursing and hotel service materials are available for use and that any unused materials are stored away from residents' living areas.
Must have the following:
Proven experience in a nursing home or similar setting.
Knowledge of medication administration protocols.
A compassionate approach towards patient care.
All positions are subject to an Enhanced DBS and 2 satisfactory references.
