30,000 - 33,000/annum, depending on experience


Oak Barn Vets is a small animal first opinion practice located in a bright and beautifully refurbished barn on the outskirts of Guildford, Surrey.


We have an opportunity for a Clinical Lead Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team on a full-time basis.


The Oak Barn team comprises of 4 vets, 3 RVNS, a final year SVN, PCA and Administration and Client Care Team and we would love to add a Clinical Lead RVN to this to provide support and leadership on the floor.


The practice is equipped with separate cat and dog wards, isolation, digital x-ray and dental x-ray, laparoscopic instruments, K-laser, IDEXX in house lab machines and have obtained, Rabbit-, Cat- and Dog -friendly status. We also work with an on-site, independent hydrotherapy service.

Your role and responsibilities




The role includes monitoring of sedation and anaesthetic from prep to recovery, in patient care, and cleaning and maintenance of equipment. You will foster good client relationships by performing nurse consults and assisting vets with procedures.


In addition to specific Lead Nurse duties of line management, we are looking for a nurse to embrace our growth mindset and lead with a passion for development of yourself and the team.

Lead and deliver high-quality patient and client care Provide direct line management to allocated members of the nursing team. Promote a culture of respect, collaboration, and engagement in the practice team to support well-being, quality, and productivity Uphold and engage in Clinical Standards & Quality Improvement and demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development. Understand and implement practice and group policies and comply with regulatory requirements

We are looking for someone on a full-time basis with a 1:4 weekend rota (Saturdays only, following Friday off). Our shifts range from 7.30am - 4pm or 10:30am - 7pm. Most of our nurses work this pattern, but we are flexible and are open to longer shifts over 4 days.


Developing and empowering our nurses is important to us. You will have access to over 150hours of pre-recorded CPD delivered by our expert clinicians and nurses. All of our nurses receive a robust induction to help you thrive in your new role. On top of this, you will have access to modular courses on a variety of topics including our AVA-accredited anaesthesia and analgesia modular course.
