Job Summary:



We are seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable

Clinical Lead

to join our leadership team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing clinical care delivery within the home, ensuring full compliance with

Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) regulations

, promoting best practice, and driving high-quality outcomes for our residents.

The ideal candidate will have at least

3-5 years of experience in care home settings in Wales

, with a strong understanding of

safeguarding procedures

,

multidisciplinary team working

, and

strategic leadership

in line with

CIW standards

.

Key Responsibilities:Clinical Leadership and Governance:



Provide day-to-day clinical leadership and supervision to nursing and care teams. Ensure the delivery of person-centred care that meets the emotional, physical, and social needs of residents. Oversee clinical audits, care planning, risk assessments, and evidence-based practice. Ensure full compliance with CIW regulatory standards and maintain up-to-date clinical records.

Safeguarding and Risk Management:



Act as a key point of contact for safeguarding matters. Attend and contribute to

strategy meetings

, liaising with local safeguarding teams and social services. Lead investigations and implement corrective actions following safeguarding concerns or incidents.

Regulatory Compliance and CIW Readiness:



Maintain thorough knowledge of the

Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016

and associated standards. Ensure policies and procedures reflect current legislation and are effectively implemented. Support the home in preparing for CIW inspections and address any identified areas for improvement.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration:



Liaise with GPs, district nurses, social workers, physiotherapists, dietitians, and other health professionals. Participate in and lead

multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings

, ensuring coordinated care planning and communication.

Quality Improvement and Audit:



Lead and coordinate monthly and quarterly audits on clinical practices, infection control, medication, falls, nutrition, and documentation. Monitor action plans and follow through to resolution. Continuously seek opportunities for service improvement and innovation.

Staffing and Workforce Development:



Support a

no-agency staffing model

by leading on recruitment, retention, and staff engagement strategies. Conduct supervision, appraisals, and clinical competency assessments. Provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities for nursing and care staff.

Occupancy and Business Performance:



Support the Home Manager in maintaining

high occupancy levels

by ensuring clinical excellence and customer satisfaction. Contribute to

budget planning and management

, including effective rostering, minimising agency use, and optimising staff mix. Engage in marketing efforts, including prospective family tours and assessments.

Essential Criteria:



Registered Nurse with active

NMC registration

(Adult or Mental Health). Minimum of

3-5 years' experience

working in care homes in Wales. In-depth knowledge of

CIW regulations

,

safeguarding procedures

, and

multidisciplinary working

. Experience in clinical auditing, quality assurance, and action planning. Proven leadership experience, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Competent in care planning, risk assessment, and medication management.

Desirable:



Leadership/management qualification (e.g., Level 5 Health and Social Care, ILM). Experience in budget oversight or rota planning. Experience in leading on digital care planning systems and eMAR. Track record of maintaining full CIW compliance with positive inspection outcomes.
