Job Purpose:



As a

Clinical Lead / Deputy Manager

, you will be responsible for providing strong leadership and clinical oversight within the nursing home, ensuring the highest standards of care for residents. You will work closely with the Home Manager and multidisciplinary teams to maintain a safe, effective, and person-centred care environment, ensuring compliance with CQC regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:



Clinical Leadership & Management:



Provide professional clinical leadership and mentorship to nursing and care staff. Oversee the safe and effective delivery of nursing care, ensuring best practices are followed. Act as a role model for high-quality, person-centred care. Lead on clinical governance, audits, risk management, and infection control procedures. Ensure compliance with the

Care Quality Commission (CQC)

and other regulatory requirements.

Resident Care & Wellbeing:



Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans for residents. Monitor and manage residents' conditions, ensuring timely intervention when needed. Work collaboratively with GPs, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for residents. Lead on safeguarding and mental capacity assessments.

Staff Supervision & Development:



Supervise, support, and develop nursing and care teams through training, supervision, and performance reviews. Conduct competency assessments for staff and ensure ongoing professional development. Assist with recruitment, induction, and retention of high-quality nursing staff.

Quality & Compliance:



Ensure adherence to

CQC standards

, Health & Safety regulations, and best practice guidelines. Conduct audits, incident reviews, and investigations as required. Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the nursing home.

Medication Management:



Oversee safe administration and management of medications, ensuring compliance with prescribing guidelines. Conduct medication audits and ensure staff adhere to policies on controlled drugs and MAR charts. Monitor medication stock levels and ensure timely ordering of medications to maintain adequate supply. Complete the monthly medication stock order in line with residents' prescriptions and home requirements.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:



Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and external agencies. Provide clear, effective communication in handovers and team meetings.
Respond to complaints and concerns in a timely, professional manner

Person Specification:



Essential

NMC-registered Nurse (RGN/RMN/RNLD) with active PIN Educated to a minimum of Degree level. Minimum 2 years in a senior nursing role, preferably in a care home Strong leadership, clinical, and decision-making skills Knowledge of elderly, dementia, and end-of-life care Familiarity with CQC regulations and health & safety legislation Competence in medication management and care planning systems
Desirable

Postgraduate qualifications in leadership, dementia, or palliative care Experience in auditing, budgeting, and quality improvement initiatives Experience in training delivery to staff teams
