Job Description

In this post, you will strengthen the clinical academic base of paediatric dentistry within the Centre for Dentistry, School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences at Queenxe2x80x99s University Belfast (QUB) and deliver and enhance clinical service in paediatric dentistry with the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (BHSCT).You will contribute to planning, delivery, assessment and review of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in paediatric dentistry and lead on specific aspects of the programme as well as pursuing and engaging in scholarly activity and contributing to the Centrexe2x80x99s administration and outreach activity.Dentistry at Queenxe2x80x99s University Belfast was ranked 1st in the UK in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024 and 2025.Further information about the School and Centre are available at:Informal enquiries may be directed to Professor Wendy Turner at .(A post is also available for Clinical Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Education) and Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry. Please see the separate job summary and job description).About the person:Appointment may be made at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level - please refer to the relevant candidate information document for the full relevant criteria for each post and indicate clearly in your application which academic grade you are applying for.The essential qualification requirements are:

• Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC) or eligible for inclusion.
• MFDS or equivalent.
• On the GDC Specialist List in Paediatric Dentistry before commencement of post; OR have completed a minimum of 12 years dental experience (either a continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining primary qualification as adentist, of which a minimum of 6 years should be in the relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grade. Applicants who are nationals from another EEA country or overseas would have to demonstrate equivalent training/ qualifications and be eligible for registration and inclusion on the United Kingdom General Dental Councilxe2x80x99s specialist list in Paediatric Dentistry.
• Demonstrates the specialist knowledge, skills and capabilities as set out in the UK
• If a higher degree is not already held, commitment to undertaking a funded MSc in Clinical Education during the 3year probationary period.
