We are seeking an experienced and confident mental health nurse to join our senior team as Clinical Nurse Lead (Night Service). This is a pivotal leadership role, offering autonomy, responsibility, and the opportunity to make a real difference to patient care overnight.



Whether you're already leading night services or ready to step into your first site-wide leadership role, this position provides strong senior support while allowing you to lead with confidence.



Shift Pattern


Week 1: 3 nights, Week 2: 4 nights Every other weekend Consistent, predictable rota to support work-life balance

About the Role


As Clinical Nurse Lead for the Night Service, you'll be the senior clinical leader on site overnight, providing visible, confident leadership and ensuring outstanding standards of care across the service.
You'll play a key role in keeping patients, staff and visitors safe, making autonomous clinical decisions and ensuring care is delivered in line with professional standards and legislation. This is a role where your judgement, experience and leadership truly matter.



You'll take the lead on out-of-hours PICU referrals, working closely with on-call doctors, bed managers and external referrers to assess suitability for admission and make informed nursing recommendations.



As part of the wider multi-disciplinary team, you'll assess care needs, support care planning and help maintain high clinical standards across the site. You'll also oversee staffing, skill mix and supervision overnight, stepping in with hands-on clinical support when needed.



This role offers the opportunity to remain clinically involved while leading services for patients with a wide range of mental health needs, including complex and specialist presentations.



Key Responsibilities


Leading and supporting clinical teams overnight Acting as the senior clinical decision-maker on site Responding to medical and psychiatric emergencies Coaching and mentoring staff to maintain high standards Conducting spot checks to ensure quality and compliance Ensuring safe handovers and accurate documentation Supporting audits, governance and people management

About You



Essential Skills:


Registered RMN or RNLD with a current NMC PIN Minimum 3 years' experience in a mental health setting Strong clinical skills with the ability to work autonomously Proven leadership ability or readiness to step into a senior role Excellent communication and decision-making skills Sound IT skills

Desirable Skills:


Experience in Older People's Mental Health (OPMH) and/or PICU
