Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Pleural Service.



The role will involve working with the pleural team to deliver safe and effective care for patients with pleural diseases. The service operates for inpatients, outpatients and also day cases.



The pos tholder will:



Deliver nurse led clinics under the supervision of a pleural consultant Provide education, support and training to medical staff, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals throughout the trust and in a community setting Provide education, support and training for patients, family members and carers Assist pleural team with pleural interventions Develop competency in pleural intervention and pleural disease management. This will be assessed by completing a competency framework within an agreed timeframe Administration, organisation and triage of pleural work - working closely with the multidisciplinary team Participate in local and national audits relating to pleural disease Contribute to pleural research Contribute to service development within the respiratory service Practice autonomously and be self-directed

The successful candidate will have some experience in pleural disease, either in a ward, community or out-patient setting. They will have at least two years post registration experience. They must be able to practice autonomously and be self-directed, but also be able to operate efficiently as part of a team. They will demonstrate an eagerness to learn and develop and have a passion for education. They will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the service.



The postholder will work closely with the lead Pleural Consultants. They will be supported by the Lead Respiratory Nurse Specialist. They will also be part of the wider Respiratory team at UCLH
