Job Description

The post holder will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team providing inpatient, day patient and community service to patients with acquired brain injuries referred to the Specialist Neurorehabilitation Service. This will involve direct clinical work, demanding particular skills in communication where barriers often exist and in providing creative psychological interventions in a highly specialised area. The post holder will carry out formal neuropsychological assessments and provide formal reports, as well as providing feedback to other professionals working with that patient. The post holder will be expected to provide clinical input to patients who demonstrate challenging behaviour and to train and supervise other staff in the management of challenging behaviour. The post holder will be managed by the Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and the Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist, who will provide appropriate supervision. This is a substantive post.



Please note :

We will consider a newly qualified Psychologist in a Band 7 developmental post with the aim of advancing to Band 8A via Preceptorship. The Band 7 post will be full time, 37.5 hours per week, to enable appropriate development. Band 7 starting salary is 46,148 pro rata per annum. To plan and manage an appropriate personal case-load, to ensure service needs and priorities are met. To deliver that service at all appropriate locations. This will mainly involve working at Jubilee House, the day patient facility, Caroline House, the inpatient ward but will also involve working in the patient's home or in other community locations as appropriate.

To work closely and where best practice indicates, jointly, with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high quality service. To ensure that all personal clinical practice is provided from an evidence base or in accordance with best practice.

To assist in the development of a new training programme for staff for the assessment and management of challenging behaviour following brain injury, in accordance with providing a high quality specialist service.

To liaise with other agencies, both statutory and voluntary so as to ensure a co-ordinated approach to meeting patient needs.
