Scottish Brain Sciences is a Life Sciences Company with Headquarters in Edinburgh, Scotland. We deliver clinical trials of new tests and treatments for a range of neurodegenerative conditions, including Alzheimer's disease. We foster the rapid translation of research into practice (bench to bedside).
As our new
Clinical Research Nurse,
you will work closely with investigators, sponsors, vendors, and study participants to facilitate the development and successful delivery of clinical trials. You will be the study champion, promoting it internally and externally via meetings, events and seminars and ensuring it is delivered following regulatory, government, and ethical regulations and requirements.
Some of what you'll be doing:
identifying, screening, and recruiting study participants into research studies to ensure effective achievement of study aims
providing ongoing advice and information to study participants regarding their participation in clinical research in order to facilitate effective informed consent
managing study visits and implementing clinical study protocols within times set out by the study schedule of events
taking and processing clinical samples (e.g. venepuncture/cannulation) for studies, coordinating blood and tissue sample collection, and dispatching to the relevant department or trial centre
administering investigational medicinal products
performing study-specific assessments, investigations and observations in line with the study protocol, such as ECG, Blood Pressure and Vital Signs
maintaining study site files, patient records and other research records in compliance with data legislation
managing supplies and materials including clinical stocktaking and any products required for clinical use
maintaining hygiene standards in the clinical areas.
The skills, experience, and qualifications you'll bring:
a professional manner with patients, colleagues, and the wider multi-disciplinary team
an empathetic communication style
great organisation skills
the ability to work in a team within a multidisciplinary environment with minimal supervision
phlebotomy and cannulation experience experience in obtaining Informed consent
experience in using electronic data capture systems for research management
experience in the safe handling, preparation, storage, and shipping of biological samples
experience with coordinating clinical trials with investigational product is advantageous but not essential
NMC Registered Nurse
knowledge of ICH GCP Guidelines. Medicines for Human Use Legislation & Research Governance Framework.
*In this role you will be in contact with live blood samples, you must be vaccinated against Hepatitis B or be prepared to be vaccinated if successful.
Even better if you have:
a relevant post graduate degree
previous research experience
experience in coordinating clinical trials in medicinal products
psychiatry/neurology trial experience
