We have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Neuroimaging Research Group in the Department of Paediatrics as our Clinical Researcher.

You will be responsible for providing neonatal and paediatric clinical input and insight across the life cycle of research studies (including conceptualisation, design, implementation, and dissemination), and using your clinical knowledge and experience to contribute to the strategy planning and operational development of the research group. This will include contributions to grant applications, top-level decisions about research direction, leading your own projects and supporting those run by other staff members and students within the group. You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division.

The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology.

This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially for 3.5 months, or until 1 March 2026 (whichever is sooner) with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is available. The successful candidate will ideally be able to start as soon as possible.

This role meets the criteria for a UK Skilled Worker visa.

About you



You be medically qualified with extensive experience of clinical neonatology. For the duration of this University academic post, you will maintain an honorary contract with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and for this, you will need to maintain registration with the GMC with a licence to practise. You will have highly effective verbal and written communication skills with patients, families and all level of staff, and an ability to operate effectively in a demanding and varied research environment. You will have demonstrable experience of working in clinical research and passion for continued development as a clinical academic. Experience of clinical work in lower- and middle-income countries, and an interest in infant brain development and pain research, are desirable.
