We are looking to employ an enthusiastic Senior Clinical Scientist or Clinical Fellow to work within our team in Clinical Biochemistry at Synnovis. Synnovis is comprised of Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals, Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, King's College Hospital and the Princess Royal University Hospital alongside the Synnovis hub laboratory in Blackfriars. You will be based at St Thomas' Hospital but in order to meet the needs of the Trust's services you will be required to work at Guy's Hospital, the Synnovis hub and Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals.
Main duties of the job
As part of the ongoing transformation of core services across Synnovis, the post holder will be encouraged to build on and improve existing relationships in the Blood Sciences Laboratories across Synnovis hospital sites.
The post holder will be required to work with the Strategic Clinical Lead for Biochemistry, Consultant Clinical Scientists and Operations Managers to provide a comprehensive scientific service including participation in the departmental Duty Biochemist rota, as well as providing expertise and input for queries relating to the Biochemistry Laboratories in Synnovis.

The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the investigation of clinical incidents and initiate and participate in clinical audits pertinent to Clinical Biochemistry. The post holder is expected to spend a proportion of their time dedicated to UKAS-orientated activities and service development.
The core Clinical Biochemistry department within Synnovis is comprised of two Consultant Chemical Pathologists, two Consultant Clinical Scientists, two Principal Clinical Scientists and two Senior Clinical Scientists (including this post). Synnovis is also an STP training centre.
You should possess an MSc and/or PhD in Clinical Biochemistry and have completed, or be close to completion of the STP (or equivalent) training programme. Ideally you will have registration as a Clinical Scientist with the HCPC. Support will be given for personal and professional development, including FRCPath tutorials, case and journal discussions and conference attendances.
