The Mental Health Crisis Intervention Team (MHCIT) is a service for adults aged 18-64 and their families and carers living in Hull and East Riding who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis.
As a Band 7 Clinical Shift Lead within the MHCIT, you'll provide senior clinical oversight and leadership across the 24/7 service. You'll coordinate shift activity, support clinical decision-making, and ensure safe, effective care for individuals in acute mental health distress.
This role is pivotal in maintaining high standards of care, managing risk, and supporting both registered and unregistered staff during complex presentations. You'll work closely with emergency services, community teams, and partner agencies to deliver responsive, person-centred interventions.
We welcome applications from Registered Mental Health Nurses, Registered Learning Disabilities Nurses, and Social Workers with experience in mental health settings. We are a 24/7, 7 day service therefore the successful candidate will be expected to work a shift pattern including long days, weekends and nights.
Main duties of the job
o Lead and coordinate clinical activity across the team during allocated shiftso Provide senior oversight of the Section 136 suite, ensuring timely assessments and safe managemento Support clinical decision-making and risk management for individuals in crisiso Supervise and guide registered and unregistered staff, promoting reflective practice and learningo Undertake and support complex mental health assessments, including risk formulation and care planningo Ensure accurate and timely documentation of clinical rationale, handovers, and interventionso Act as a point of escalation for high-risk or complex caseso Liaise with emergency services, community teams, and external agencies to ensure integrated careo Contribute to service development, audits, and incident reviewso Promote a culture of safety, compassion, and accountability
