The Medical Education Department at Hafan Derwen, Carmarthen are looking to recruit a Clinical Skills Co-ordinator. This exciting role is to provide technical support for clinical skills and simulation teaching for medical and physician associate students and medical staff at various levels in their training. The post also requires supporting student and junior doctor induction, general support in the department, some administrative tasks and working with colleagues on other sites.



The applicant should demonstrate they work well within a team, with experience of working in a clinical environment an advantage. Excellent communication skills and a knowledge of administrative procedures and excellent technology and digital IT skills are also required. Training on the set up and maintenance of skills and simulation equipment will be given.



The hours are less than full time (3 days a week) and requires some flexibility.



Main duties of the role include:

Co-ordinating the clinical skills and simulation teaching and learning for students, trainees and work experience students Prepare the learning environment Create certificates for attendance and presentation Liaise with key stakeholders such as clinical teams and universities Obtain feedback from service users to inform future provision with a view to continual improvements Be a team player and work with other medical education centre staff to ensure the general smooth running of the centre General admin duties

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Amman Valley Hospital and Llandovery Hospital in Carmarthenshire, Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire.



Two integrated care centres (Aberaeron and Cardigan, Ceredigion).



Community facilities, including:



48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes



Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.



Clinical skills and simulation teaching and learning is an integral part of medical education.



Main responsibilities of the role will include:

Supporting the provision of high quality medical education through the co-ordination of clinical skills and simulation training Working with the Medical Education Teams and Universities to plan and prepare for teaching and learning which corresponds with relevant curricula and learning needs Identify opportunities to continually improve the service offered in order to make Hywel Dda the place to be for medical education and training
