University Hospitals of North Midlands is currently unable to provide sponsorship for Band 2 and Band 3 roles. This is in accordance with UKVI guidelines and legislation, as these roles do not meet the skill nor salary threshold for sponsorship. Clinical Support Worker - Surgery- Theatres



We require enthusiastic and flexible Clinical Support Workers to join our Theatre team at County Hospital site of the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. Here we specialise in Orthopaedic, General surgery, Upper GI, Urology, Gynaecology, Plastics, Bariatric, ENT and more specialities. We also have two ambulatory units which are the latest addition to our portfolio.



You will need to be a team player with good communication skills and an ability to adapt to new situations with a strong focus on providing excellent quality patient care within the Theatre environment.



It is expected that ALL employees of the Trust will take part in the appraisal process each year, with the first appraisal taking place within the first 6 months from appointment. Communicate and report any changes or information relating to the patient to the Registered Nurse. Communicate appropriately with patients and visitors to the Ward or Department. Always portraying a professional respectful manner. To receive patients, visitors and staff in a calm, friendly and efficient manner. Exchanges information with patients using reassurance, tact and empathy. Overcome barriers to understanding for example patients with physical or mental disabilities. The post holder will be required to undertake as appropriate any training packages relevant to the healthcare setting and on-going training as determined by the Trust and their line manager. For all new Clinical Support Workers, it is mandatory that they complete the Care Certificate within 12 weeks off issue. All Clinical Support Workers are required to complete both Corporate and Care Coach Induction within their first week of employment. The post holder will work towards completion of a vocational qualification in care as agreed in their PDR. Have a duty to respond and report patient's condition in a timely manner. This will include judgements involving facts. Hold basic keyboard skills. Dexterity to undertake nursing care procedures as appropriate

In this post you would be responsible for providing fundamental elements of patient care as directed by the qualified nursing/midwifery team to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of dignified & respectful care, in accordance with their care plans. Collect patients from wards for theatres



Assist with transferring patient from bed and trolleys onto operating table.



The patients' dignity is maintained at all times.



The patient is offered appropriate support and reassurance during the transfer or move, in a manner sensitive to there needs and concerns.



Participate in the surgical safety checklist



Complete circulating duties including pre, peri and post operative swab needle and instruments counts



Ensures all equipment is maintained and kept clean, stocked up and ready for use, ensuring lean methodology and stock rotation is completed.



Cleans and tidies the environment.



Prepare equipment for medical and nursing staff for procedures



Demonstrates safe working practices in the use of equipment in the clinical area completion of mandatory training.

You will support the registered staff within the department, and undertake the following;



Participate in WHO safety checklist



Peri-operative swab needle and instrument counts



Prepare instrumentation and consumable items for the daily workload, ensuring stock rotation is completed



Ensure theatres are stocked and ready for the operating lists



Taking Clinical Observations and Recording



Glucose Monitoring



Urine Analysis (Strip)



Support and Assist New Staff- Buddy System/Care Certificate Supervisor



Pregnancy Testing



Report risks as appropriate



This list is not exhaustive.



We currently work Monday to Saturday and will be working from 8am to 8pm on each of those days. You will be expected to work within those shift times.
