Job Description

This post is designed for candidates with previous experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology who have a special interest in medical education and wish to develop clinical aptitude in their professional development.
It is ideally targeted at ST3 and above, ST1 and ST2 trainees will be considered if appropriate experience.
It provides an excellent opportunity to combine clinically individualised tailored activity with undergraduate teaching.
You will be responsible for the teaching and management of the new AP1 students rotation through obstetrics and Gynaecology under the supervision of Ms.Jyothi Rajeswary, Undergraduate Lead in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Sherwood Forest Hospitals
The post will be up to five days per week - 3 equivalent working days primarily with the medical students in the Unit and 2 working days equivalent on the trainee rota. There are on-call commitments.
Main duties of the job
Clinical duties - two days per week
The appointee will work with the other full time equivalent trainees on the rota providing day to day on-call cover for both obstetrics and gynaecology. As well as providing emergency daytime cover the appointee will have the opportunity to gain experience in other aspects of the specialty in antenatal and gynaecology clinics, specialist gynaecological clinics and in the operating theatre, or ultrasound scanning in obstetrics and or gynaecology or to learn a new skill e.g. Colposcopy.
Teaching / educational duties -
Three days per week This time will be spent in developing a special interest in undergraduate medical education and delivering the Intended learning outcomes (ILOS) described in the AP1 teaching logbook
The successful candidate will participate in weekly obstetrics and gynaecology teaching clinics and small group teaching and tutorials, centred on Case Based Learning as well as assisting at assessments. Allocated study will be available to attend all the required courses to complete this.
