We are seeking an experienced clinical technologist to join our team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, to work in the Dosimetry and QC section of our Radiotherapy Physics team. You will be joining our MDT of Clinical Oncologists, Radiographers and Physics staff. The team boasts a culture which is passionately committed to innovative, high-quality care. The Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital provides a cutting-edge radiotherapy service for Taunton and the surrounding area, including an established and expanding SABR programme. We operate a modern fleet of three Elekta Versa HD linear accelerators with SGRT (Align RT), a Canon Aquilion LB CT simulator (also with Align RT), Raystation and Pinnacle treatment planning systems with MVision AI contouring and an Xstrahl 200 superficial therapy unit. As part of the team, you will contribute to the implementation of new technologies and treatment techniques as we clinically commission Raystation and participate in our programme of clinical research.
This post is 12-month fixed term to cover temporary staff vacancy and we will consider appointing at a lower band for candidates with less than essential experience for the role.
Main duties, tasks & skills required

The post holder supports the provision of specialist clinical technical services to patients of the Radiotherapy Department such that they receive safe, accurate and efficient radiotherapy treatments. The key duties performed by the post-holder include:
conducting routine dosimetry and quality assurance testing of radiotherapy treatment machines,
conducting patient specific quality control checks,
participating in acceptance testing and commissioning of radiotherapy treatment machines, imaging equipment and treatment planning systems as agreed with Lead Clinical Scientists,
the creation of treatment accessories in mould room,
to contribute to departmental governance, including the generation of work instructions and other related documentation
participate in multi-disciplinary meetings as a radiotherapy physics representative.

Essential
Experience working in Radiotherapy, either during training or post qualification, with:
Knowledge of the principles of the cancer patient pathway and the associated clinical procedures
Knowledge of the principles of external beam radiotherapy
Understanding of the needs of patients and clients
Good knowledge of radiotherapy equipment including treatment planning systems, linear accelerators, superficial therapy units and virtual simulators.
Knowledge of patient positioning and immobilisation.
Experience of working in radiation dosimetry, machine and patient specific quality assurance
Experience of the Pinnacle Treatment Planning System and Mosaiq Oncology Management systems.
Experience of Mould Room and radiotherapy accessory manufacture
