Veterinarian Specialist Role in Preclinical Services

You'll be based at a leading-edge research facility, where your clinical skills will support ethically grounded, welfare-focused programs.
What Youll Do

  • Act as a deputy NVS under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act.
  • Deliver expert clinical care and case management, including anaesthesia, surgery, and ophthalmology.
  • Provide advice and guidance on animal welfare, contributing to internal ethical review processes.
  • Engage with multidisciplinary teams, regulatory bodies, and clients to ensure compliance and excellence in veterinary care.
  • Support and potentially lead specialist research, with opportunities to publish and present work.
What Were Looking For
  • Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
  • Strong clinical foundation in medicine and surgery, with interest in developing skills across a variety of species.
  • Prior experience in laboratory animal medicine is an advantage, but full training will be provided.
  • Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota (non-onerous)
