Job Summary


Join Imperial War Museums (IWM) as the Clore Holocaust Curator, a pivotal role generously funded by the Clore Duffield Foundation. You'll lead the development, interpretation, and stewardship of IWM's internationally significant Holocaust collections, shaping how personal stories and historical narratives are preserved and shared. This is a senior curatorial position within the Second World War and Mid Twentieth Century Conflict team, with responsibility for The Holocaust Galleries and related public engagement.

Responsibilities:



Lead acquisition, research, and cataloguing of Holocaust-related collections (1929-1949), with a focus on personal stories. Curate and maintain The Holocaust Galleries, collaborating across departments to meet audience needs. Deliver innovative interpretation and storytelling for exhibitions, learning programmes, and media. Represent IWM in academic and public forums, contributing to research, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy. Mentor junior curators and contribute to strategic planning and collections development. Ensure ethical, legal, and professional standards in all curatorial activities.

About You




You're a knowledgeable and passionate Holocaust specialist with:

A degree or equivalent experience in History or a related field. Proven expertise in Holocaust collections and material culture. Strong communication skills and experience engaging diverse audiences. Practical experience in collections development, loans, and acquisitions. Familiarity with collections management systems (e.g., Axiell Collections). A collaborative mindset and commitment to innovation in museum practice.
