The Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer is a critical technical role responsible for the implementation & management of our customer cloud & infrastructure. Alongside a team of Cloud & Infrastructure Engineers you will lead on the deployment of new infrastructure; whether on premise, co-lo or cloud, along with their ongoing maintenance, and optimisation of performance for efficiency and reliability. Whilst collaborating closely with Network, End User & Security teams, the primary focus remains on the efficient, scalable setup and management of customer infrastructure, paying particular attention to security, availability & capacity; swiftly responding to, and resolving, any infrastructure issues to minimise downtime. You will be pivotal to building, securing, & maintaining robust infrastructures, crucial for maintaining high operational uptime and aligning with the overall IT strategies of our customers.
Core Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Technical Architect (Cloud) and Pre-Sales to understand technical designs & implement solutions
Work closely with Engineers in different disciplines (i.e. End User, Network, and Security) to be certain that customer solutions sit well within their holistic technical landscape
Produce high quality pre-installation and post-installation documentation
Work closely with Project Managers to ensure high quality solutions are delivered on time and on budget
Ensure customer infrastructures are onboarded effectively with thorough documentation, and that they have robust monitoring thresholds and alerting set, along with patch schedules
Fault diagnosis & resolution when escalated from 1st or 2nd Line teams
Proactive problem management across our customers driving stability & efficiency within their infrastructure
Knowledge transfer to 1st & 2nd Line teams, ensuring we continue our internal development through upskilling
Produce technical reports for the Cloud & Infrastructure Manager as required
Attend customer sites where necessary
Any other duties reasonably required by your line manager
Requirements:
Professional certifications in cloud & infrastructure such as Microsoft MS-900, MS-101, AZ-900, AZ-104; VMware VCP-DCV, VCAP-DCV are highly desirable.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, with specific expertise in Microsoft & VMware products
Proven experience in managing complex infrastructure in a multi-vendor environment.
Strong understanding of cloud, infrastructure & virtualisation architectures & technologies
Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve issues efficiently
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
Strong communication and documentation skills
An ethos for scalability to reduce overheads through standardised, streamlined technology
Microsoft (Intermediate qualification) or Cisco
You must live within commutable distance of County Durham as this role requires you to be office based at least 3 days per week
Pay Band - 28,000 - 40,000 depending on skills, qualifications and experience
Working Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday, 3 days office/2 days home
