Bungay & Waveney Valley Golf Club is a highly regarded members' Club located on the Norfolk/Suffolk border in the picturesque Waveney Valley.
The Club was founded in 1889 and has a strong membership including, gentlemen, ladies and junior sections and is a popular venue for visiting golf societies.
The Club is looking for a Clubhouse Manager to deliver our Club's vision for the clubhouse, namely:
Provide an environment that is inclusive to all members.
Develop the facility to create an atmosphere and enjoyment for all ages.
Create Dining options for bespoke events and relaxed lounge style catering for members and their guests.
Look to provide members with a relaxed social & sporting space.
The role of Clubhouse Manager presents a real opportunity for the right individual to manage, promote and develop Clubhouse services across the membership, reporting to a member of the Board, within a progressive and friendly environment. The appointment will be on an employed basis, and the successful applicant will have an opportunity to maximise income from the successful provision of Bar and Catering Services.
Responsibilities
To be responsible for the Front of House activities delivered to members and guests via its bar and catering operations and the management of the Clubhouse needs including:
Promoting and supporting Bar and Catering Services.
Managing the overall delivery of all such activities for members and their guests in the clubhouse.
Employ and manage staff to provide Bar and Catering Services, including compliance with all applicable Employment Regulations and Standards.
Adherence to Food Hygiene Standards.
Adherence to Workplace Health and Safety Laws.
The successful applicant will be required to hold a Personal Licence, granted under the terms of part 6 of the Licensing Act 2003.
Organise staff rotas to ensure suitable staff cover is present at all times.
Liaise with our maintenance contractors to support the successful delivery of services, maintain the building fabric in liaison with the Office and manage all aspects of Health & Safety and Fire safety in the clubhouse.
The role will include profit and loss accountability and drive revenue enhancement for all aspects of the Clubhouse.
Work with the Office and Pro-Shop/Club Professional to ensure the smooth running of functions and manage the processes and procedures the Club has in place for such activities.
Work closely with their own team and the Board to promote catering options and actively market all clubhouse functions.
Ensure the necessary training of all staff in such matters of, but not exclusive to, first aid, fire safety, health and safety and ensure that reviews and records are updated and meticulously kept in accordance with the Club's processes and procedures.
Ensure the clubhouse is opened and locked as required and other security processes are maintained liaising/working in conjunction with the main key holder.
Develop the Club's offering for visitors including Societies and Corporates.
You will be an ambassador for the Club's food and drink services and a representative for the Club, to members and guests and a role model for how service will be co-ordinated by team members.
This is a full-time, employed position, in an exciting and dynamic club involving significant evening and weekend work, particularly during the summer months; it requires a person who will adopt a hands-on approach whilst developing their own team and is ambitious to build a high-level of service for the Club's members.
Experience:
It would be beneficial, though not essential, to have some understanding of golf clubs and their traditions, but equally important is to provide flexibility in the hours of service, provide excellent customer service and to have a hands-on approach.
Prior experience of the provision of Bar and Catering Services and management of a team is essential.
You require the necessary IT and communication skills to support the creation and development of Management Information, menus, and function sheets etc.
You require effective people management skills and a good understanding of self-motivation and initiative, be outgoing, presentable and an excellent communicator.
Remuneration
An attractive employment contract will be offered based upon the requirements of the applicant and the Club. On site accommodation is provided as part of the role.
