To support operations in delivering a world class performance from the Presspart Blackburn manufacturing operation by providing effective milling support for current & new products that enhance operational safety, quality and delivery whilst minimising cost.
Your key responsibilities:
Take responsibility for all aspects of milling within the tool manufacturing facility, ensuring equipment is operated safely, effectively, and maintained to high standards.
Develop, implement, and refine milling techniques and methods to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of manufacturing operations.
Collaborate with production teams to ensure the timely and full supply of deep drawn components, meeting both customer specifications and regulatory standards.
Ensure milling processes consistently meet operational quality standards and contribute to the delivery of defect-free products.
Maintain accurate records of milling processes, tooling specifications, and modifications in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.
Responsible for delivering training to apprentices in CNC and manual milling machines or other areas of expertise, as required.
Education / Training
Ideally qualified to HNC level in a mechanical engineering discipline.
Served a recognised apprenticeship in Milling and CNC Milling , NVQ3 or equivalent.
Knowledge / Experience
CNC Milling using a Vertical Machining Centre
CNC Mazatrol programming essential
All aspects of manual milling
Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives in milling operations to support world-class manufacturing performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Provide technical support for new product development and introduction, ensuring milling processes are capable and optimized from the outset.
Promote and adhere to best practices in health, safety, and environmental standards within the milling and wider manufacturing operations.
Work closely with design, engineering, and quality teams to support tooling and component development, problem-solving, and process improvements.
Using CAD software for CNC programs would be advantageous
Working knowledge of health & safety legislation & safety requirements in the workplace
