The Company



Celebrating our 10 year anniversary this year, we have recently moved premises and expanded our machining capacity, we are looking to add to our small team.

Role Purpose



To program, set, and operate CNC machines to manufacture precision components to engineering drawings and specification. The role combines CAD/CAM programming with hands-on machining duties, ensuring efficient production, high accuracy, and continuous improvement in machining processes.

Key Responsibilities



1. CNC Programming



Create, edit, and optimise CNC programs using CAM software (Autodesk Fusion 360). Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation to develop correct machining strategies. Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, feeds, and workholding methods. Reduce cycle times and improve tool life through optimisation of programs and processes. Maintain organised program files and documentation.

2. Machine Setting



Prepare CNC machines for production including tooling setup, fixture installation, and workpiece alignment. Load CNC programs and conduct dry runs/first-off checks to verify accuracy and safety. Adjust offsets, tool wear, and machine parameters as needed. Troubleshoot setup issues and ensure machines are prepared to produce consistent, high-quality parts.

3. Machine Operation



Operate CNC Mills to manufacture components to tight tolerances. Monitor machines throughout production for deviations, defects, or tool wear. Perform in-process inspections and record measurements as required. Maintain production efficiency while meeting quality and delivery requirements.

4. Quality Control



Use a wide range of inspection equipment (micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, height gauges) Conduct first-off and last-off inspections and complete all relevant quality documentation. Ensure all parts meet customer and internal quality standards. Report and help resolve non-conformance issues.

5. Maintenance & Housekeeping



Carry out routine machine checks, cleaning, and basic preventative maintenance. Report machine faults or tooling issues promptly. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.

6. Continuous Improvement



Identify opportunities to improve programs, machining methods, tooling choices, and workflow. Support process development, cost reduction initiatives, and cycle-time improvements. Collaborate with engineers and management to enhance productivity and quality.

7. Required Skills & Experience



Essential



Proven experience programming, setting, and operating CNC machines. Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, tooling, and cutting data. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D CAD models. Skilled in CAM programming (Autodesk Fusion 360) Competent using precision measuring tools. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Desirable



Experience with specific CNC controls used by your organisation (HAAS Controller) Experience with multi-axis machining (4-axis). Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies. Experience working within ISO9001 quality environment.

Pay: 35,000.00-45,000.00 per year
