As a CNC Process Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimising CNC machining processes for a wide range of complex parts. You will work closely with our production team, quality assurance department, and clients to ensure that our manufacturing processes meet the highest standards of precision, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities

Programming & Process Development
Develop and optimise CNC programs for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining centers, as well as multi-axis turning centers
Create detailed process plans, including operation sequences, tooling requirements, and machining parameters
Utilise CAD/CAM software to generate efficient toolpaths and simulate machining processes
Continuously improve existing CNC programs and processes to enhance productivity and reduce cycle times
Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of new parts and suggest design improvements when necessary
Develop and maintain standardised programming practices and documentation
Setup and Implementation
Perform initial machine setups for new jobs, including tool selection, workholding design, and program verification
Create detailed setup sheets and work instructions for machine operators
Conduct dry runs and first article inspections to ensure part quality and dimensional accuracy
Train machine operators on new processes and provide ongoing support
Implement and maintain 5S and lean manufacturing principles in the CNC department
Problem Solving & Support
Troubleshoot and resolve CNC machining issues, including tool breakage, surface finish problems, and dimensional discrepancies
Analyse production data to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
Provide technical support to machine operators and maintenance personnel
Collaborate with quality assurance to address non-conformances and implement corrective actions
Participate in root cause analysis activities and implement preventive measures
Tooling & Resource Management
Evaluate and select cutting tools, workholding devices, and other machining accessories to optimise performance and cost-effectiveness
Manage tool inventory and implement tool management systems to reduce setup times and minimise waste
Develop and maintain relationships with tooling suppliers and stay informed about new technologies and products
Conduct time studies and cost analyses to justify tooling and equipment investments
Optimise coolant and lubricant usage to improve tool life and part quality
Projects & Innovation
Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance CNC machining capabilities and efficiency
Research and evaluate new CNC technologies, such as advanced tooling, workholding solutions
