The Lifesaving Training team supports the RNLI through ensuring our lifeboat crews and lifeguards are ready to help save lives, we train our crews and lifeguards to high levels of medical care which relies on exceptional training being delivered.

Your role
As a Coastal Lifeboat Trainer you will be fully involved with helping our crews to achieve and maintain the exacting standards required by the RNLI's competence framework for operational activities both afloat and ashore.
Under the direction of the Coastal Training Lead, you will be involved in a wide range of activities, from helping new crew members to develop their skills, training crew and conducing pass outs in line with our Operational Competence Framework through to helping senior crew members prepare for command roles. Your role will also involve ensuring crew are fully prepared for one of our many residential courses at the RNLI College. Combined with this, you will also be involved in a programme of formal assessments at lifeboat stations to confirm training standards are being achieved and maintained.
You will have proven experience as a practical Coastal Lifeboat Trainer with maritime experience. The role requires a lot of travelling so you will require a full drivers licence including the towing endorsement, this role will also give you the opportunity for development.
Covering stations across the south east region, with some travel expected, dependant on the regions requirements.
Computer literacy is essential, as is the ability to work well with volunteers and staff in an inclusive and diverse manner.
The successful candidate will be required to spend nights away from home and on occasion the role may require more travel elsewhere within the RNLI. Flexibility over working patterns is essential - our volunteer crews are generally available after normal working hours and on occasions only at weekends.
The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated team which contributes to Lifesaving Operations, both at sea and inland, by incorporating the elements of Rescue, Coastal Safety and Prevention.
This post requires a valid driving licence.
As this is a sea-going appointment, you will need to satisfy the Institution's medical and eyesight standards.
