Full time role around 45 hours per week, plus overtime when needed. Weekend availability is a must.
Always closed on Monday and Tuesday - apart from bank holiday Mondays.

We are Average Doughs Bakery; a small, independent bakery and coffee shop known for our sourdough bread, buns, cakes, speciality coffee, bacon baps, sandwiches and toasties. We're even more known for our incredible team that make and deliver those products and provide a welcoming atmosphere.
It's important to us to maintain high standards FOH and BOH so we continue to provide products our customers enjoy and we can all feel pride in what we're delivering. We rotate all our menus monthly to keep things seasonal, fresh and interesting.
THE ROLE
You must have experience in a similar managerial role with barista skills, a passion for good food and coffee and a basic understanding of the business and the service we currently provide. These are non-negotiable.
As Manager, you'll oversee the running of the shop, leading a team of around 12 full and part time team members. You'll set the tone for excellent customer service, ensure smooth and calm operations but also bring creativity to our seasonal menus. The role is hands on and the shop gets very busy - this is why it's important you have a strong background in hospitality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, motivate and manage the front of house team to deliver excellent service.
- Act as lead barista, set the precedent for standards with coffee and motivate other baristas to uphold the same.
- Work with the bakery and kitchen team to create monthly menus of drinks to match the food menu and bakes.
- Create rotas a month in advance, calculate and submit staff hours to payroll, manage staff performance and support training and development.
- Organise and host regular staff social events.
- Oversee daily coffee shop operations including opening/closing, cash handling, stock control, ordering supplies and managing relationships with suppliers.
- Work closely with the bakery and kitchen teams to coordinate a seamless service.
- Uphold health and safety, food hygiene and cleanliness standards and educate the team on its importance.
- Handle customer feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Support recruitment and on-boarding of new staff.
ABOUT YOU
- Strong barista experience in a busy coffee shop/cafe environment. A good understanding of speciality coffee, the dialling in process and a high standard of steaming and pouring milk.
- Previous supervisor or management experience in hospitality.
- Passion for food, coffee, and creativity in menu development.
- Hands on leader who motivates through leading by example.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy service.
- Customer focused, approachable and professional.
- Enjoys building a positive team environment through staff events and activities.
- Team player - we all help each other out. It may be required to support or cover the BOH team.
