Role Introduction
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Specialist Business Unit of Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust. We are looking to recruit an experienced qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join the award winning multi-disciplinary team which originated as the Long Covid Rehabilitation service, and has recently widened it's referral criteria and rebranded as Leeds Multisystem Rehabilitation Service (LEMURS).
Successful candidates will provide assessment and delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy counselling and support to patients with long-term multisystem health conditions and significant difficulties with daily life functioning. These difficulties may arise from symptoms such as fatigue, widespread pain, brain fog, dizziness and others. 'Multisystem' refers to the fact that the diagnosis and symptoms do not fit neatly into a single body system. It is suitable for people who are ready to engage with a rehab-oriented approach. The service offers a holistic approach, often including pacing, sleep, mood, pain management, dysautonomia management and vocational help.
The team consists of a range of therapists and are supported by medical specialists from Cardiology, Respiratory and Rehabilitation Medicine for discussion and advice when needed.
You must be able to demonstrate you have an awareness and basic understanding of treating patients who are experiencing symptoms from a variety of multisystem conditions including Long Covid, Fibromyalgia and post viral fatigue conditions. You must be able to demonstrate that you have the ability and flexibility to work within an evolving service which is ever changing to meet the rehabilitation needs of the people of Leeds. We are looking for someone who is flexible and adaptable, an individual who is a good team player. You should also have good communication skills both verbal and written.
The role will include working with people in clinics based across the city, as well as delivering treatment virtually with online educational programs and appointments. therefore, excellent IT skills including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including MS Teams are essential.
We are looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable and able to travel independently with access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
This is a permanent, part time role (22.5 hours / 0.6 WTE) within a city-wide service which operates Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).
