Based on the edge of Carmarthenshire, Gower View Foods is a dynamic, fast moving independent food business which specialises in the manufacture and packing of dairy based products. A number of well-established retail labels and also our own award-winning brand are packed on site.

The factory is a modern self-contained purpose built manufacturing unit situated on a dedicated food park, with easy access to the M4.

With a strong presence in the market and a diverse client base, we are now looking to strengthen our finance team with the addition of an experienced

Commercial Accountant / Bookkeeper

Role Overview

This is a hands-on accounting role, ideal for a detail-oriented, commercially aware finance professional who enjoys a mix of bookkeeping and higher-level financial responsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the business and will play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making through accurate financial reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Financial Control

Maintain accurate financial records using Sage line 50 Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation Manage accounts payable and receivable functions Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet items Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate coding of transactions

Financial Reporting

Produce monthly management accounts with variance analysis and commentary Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow projections Prepare VAT returns, PAYE submissions, and liaise with HMRC as required Support / Lead annual audit processes and liaise with external accountants

Commercial & Strategic Support

Provide financial insight to support operational and commercial decisions Monitor and report on key business KPIs Identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for financial improvement Assist with pricing analysis, project costing, or margin analysis where relevant

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or qualified by experience Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar bookkeeping, practice or accounting role Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices Proficiency with Sage accounting software, or ability to pick up quickly Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)

Desirable:

Experience in a commercial or SME environment Ability to connect the finance function with the wider operation
