BAM UK & Ireland's Infrastructure segment is seeking a proactive and motivated Commercial Assistant to join our dynamic team in Northern England. Playing a key role in supporting and enhancing commercial performance while delivering major civil engineering projects, you'll bring a keen eye, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with autonomy in a fast-paced, evolving environment

The role will be a hybrid role ( min 3 days per week) based from our Mikasa House Office in Newcastle, with a requirement to visit projects and site offices across the North East.

As a Commercial Assistant, you will support the commercial team in maintaining effective cost control and reporting ensuring costs are allocated correctly and processes are followed in a consistent manner. Your key responsibilities will include:

Assist with the monthly cost and value reconciliation supplying requested information such as material and plant accruals Input into our cost collation systems Processing subcontractor payments and clearing bought ledger invoices in line with agreed terms Producing cost-monitoring reports and analysing exception data Gathering and collating commercial data for internal and external reporting Managing allocation sheets, records, and the document filing system Participating in meetings and training sessions Using MS Office and other software for word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations Supporting wider commercial functions as required Ensuring compliance with company and project commercial procedures

What do you bring to the role?

English and Maths GCSE or equivalent Previous experience in a similar role or construction industry is desirable but not essential. Strong organisational skills, diligence, and motivation to learn A keen interest in the construction industry and commercial functions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in IT, especially MS Office tools.
