We have a thrilling new opportunity to join the University of Bristol in a new role as a Commercial Contracts Officer supporting the Campus Property and Infrastructure Team.
As Commercial Contracts Officer you will collaborate closely with Suppliers, building managers, and operational teams to help ensure our facilities and buildings are maintained to the highest compliance and safety standards. This supports the University vision of providing world-class research and teaching spaces.
You will report into the Commercial Contracts Manager, which forms part of a newly created Commercial and Contract management discipline. You will work closely with the Head of Maintenance Services, and Head of Projects as well as colleagues in the wider Campus Team and in the Procurement Team, with the aim of ensuring we have high performing frameworks and contracts and efficient delivery of contractual commitments with our suppliers / contractors.
The University is expanding its portfolio with the new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus opening in Autumn 2026. This role will support the management of the Hard Facilities maintenance contract and provide contractual expertise for escalation of contractual issues internally and from Supplier.

What will you be doing?

Contract lifecycle activities, including mobilisation, onboarding suppliers, creation of contract management plans, stakeholder management, leading supplier review meetings, contract extension, exit and termination.
Work closely with the Commercial Contracts Manager to help manage and report on contract performance, including scorecards, risk reviews, and provide commercial support to others.
Ensuring contractual commitments and stakeholder needs are met, holding suppliers to account on performance, time and cost, via KPI performance monitoring.
Support with change negotiations and variations to ensure contract changes are tracked and conditions updated.

You are able to demonstrate tangible outcomes through building strong relationships and working across multiple teams.
Experience working within contract management, procurement or a related discipline, and in communicating with suppliers and able to positively challenge through to resolution.
You can demonstrate business acumen / commercial awareness, and can evidence where value for money has been achieved.
You can succinctly communicate complex topics to stakeholders of all levels in writing and verbally.
Excellent analytical, organisational, and IT skills, to interpret performance data and report on findings.
You are educated to degree level or equivalent experience in Contract Management, Supplier Management, Asset Management.
Some knowledge and experience of using contractual terms and conditions (construction contracts such as JCT / NEC would be advantageous).
