Description





As Commercial Finance Director, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy that underpins the company's long-term growth-- while helping to modernise finance through AI and automation. This role will partner closely with the leadership team to drive profitable growth, optimise commercial performance, and ensure financial discipline.

Forecasting accuracy improves quarter-on-quarter, with clear visibility into pipeline conversion and divisional P&L. KPIs are embedded across the business and aligned with delivery models and customer SLAs.


Governance & Risk Management

All high-value deals pass through rigorous financial validation, with clear documentation of margin, risk, and compliance with Delegation of Authority thresholds. Commercial governance is embedded into contract negotiations and pricing strategies.


Team Leadership & Development

A high-performing commercial finance team is in place, aligned to structure and delivering consistent value. Team members are engaged, well-supported, and growing in capability under your leadership.


Finance Transformation & Automation

Reporting and forecasting processes are streamlined through automation, reducing manual effort and improving data accuracy. AI-driven tools are embedded into workflows, accelerating decision-making and enhancing commercial analysis.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

Strong alignment with central finance and FP&A ensures consistency in reporting and planning ("one version of the truth"). You are a visible leader in transformation initiatives, partnering effectively with IT and operational teams. ###

Key Responsibilities





Key Responsibilities will include the ownership of accounting policies and controls of the processes.




Daily & Month Responsibilities:


Business Partnering & Commercial Insight Act as the lead finance partner, providing strategic insight and challenge. Support commercial decision-making. Lead the quarterly forecasting & annual budgeting processes, collaborate across the business to ensure that all projects are evaluated, considered and included. Lead financial modelling for large-scale bids, renewals, and transformation programmes.



Performance Management:



Own the monthly performance review cycle, including revenue, margin, and utilisation reporting. Drive improvements in forecasting accuracy, pipeline conversion analysis, and P&L visibility. Develop and maintain KPIs aligned to the delivery model and customer SLAs.


Commercial Governance



Ensure all commercial decisions comply with Delegation of Authority (DOA) thresholds and governance gates. Lead financial validation for high-value deals, including margin analysis and risk assessment. Support contract negotiations and pricing strategy for complex agreements.


Leadership & Transformation




Build and lead a high-performing commercial finance team. Champion finance transformation initiatives, including automation of reporting and forecasting tools. Collaborate with central finance and FP&A to ensure consistency and "one version of the truth."


AI-Driven Process Automation




Identify and implement opportunities to streamline financial processes using AI and automation tools. Partner with IT and transformation teams to embed AI into forecasting, reporting, and commercial analysis workflows. Drive adoption of intelligent automation to reduce manual effort, improve data accuracy, and accelerate decision-making.


Annual Responsibilities




Support the audit process specifically relating to revenue recognition. Ensure compliance of all accounting standards (UK GAAP & IFRS), internal controls, policies and practices.


Team



Ensure and provide regular individual & team reviews against targets and performance Manage, develop, and support team through clear structured objectives (SMART) and MBO's which are aligned to corporate objectives ###

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise





Essential:



Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience. Proven experience in a senior commercial finance role within a technology, cloud, or managed services business. Strong business partnering skills with the ability to influence at SLT and board level. Advanced financial modelling and commercial acumen, particularly in contract-based revenue models. Experience managing teams and driving performance through others.


Desirable:



Experience in infrastructure or cloud services (e.g. Azure, AWS, hybrid environments). Familiarity with managed service contract structures, SLAs, and utilisation-based billing. Exposure to board-level reporting. Experience implementing AI or automation in finance operations ###
