Job Description

Purpose of the Role



The Commercial Heating Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial heating systems and gas appliances in various commercial buildings. The role involves working safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, ensuring clients receive a reliable and professional service.

Main Duties



Carry out installation, maintenance, servicing, and breakdown repairs on commercial gas boilers and heating systems. Diagnose faults and identify parts or repairs required. Complete gas safety checks and issue relevant certification. Work on a range of systems including boilers & plant room equipment. Assist with commissioning of new systems and plant. Ensure all work is carried out safely and meets current regulations. Keep detailed records of work completed, parts used, and time spent. Communicate clearly with clients and office staff about job progress and any additional work needed. Take part in the company's call-out rota when required. Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good condition.

Skills & Experience



Essential:



Fully qualified Commercial Gas Engineer (ACS qualifications such as COCN1, CODNCO1, CIGA1, CDGA1, etc.). Strong experience working on commercial heating systems and gas appliances. Good understanding of heating controls and plant room systems. Ability to work independently and manage own workload. Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:



Additional qualifications in LPG, oil, or electrical work. Experience with BMS systems or controls. NVQ or City & Guilds in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent.

Professional and reliable with a strong work ethic. Good problem-solving skills. Customer-focused with good communication and people skills. Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative. Flexible and willing to work occasional overtime or call-outs.
