Job Description

We're seeking a highly organised individual to join the AXA Health Risk Surveyor team to support profitable underwriting by conducting on-site and remote risk surveys, producing clear technical reports, and providing guidance to underwriters and customers to reduce risk exposures and strengthen profitability and resilience.


As a Risk Surveyor, you'll identify and evaluate complex commercial risks (Property, Motor Fleet, Liability), deliver technical reports and recommendations, support underwriting decisions, and provide training and risk management guidance to policyholders, brokers, and AXA Health stakeholders.


At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you'll be doing:



Prioritise survey workload to meet customer requirements and service standards Undertake risk survey evaluations of commercial Property, Motor Fleet, and Liability risks and provide technical reports Confirm risk quality, rating, classification, and loss assessment with underwriters Deliver data to influence reinsurance pricing and terms Deliver data to support commercial pricing and risk acceptability Identify and flag risks outside underwriting acceptability and communicate implications Recommend risk improvement measures with policyholders and prepare schedules for underwriters to relay to clients Provide training and guidance to new BRMs and branch underwriters; conduct underwriting accompaniment on surveys as needed

What you'll bring:



ACII or equivalent professional qualification desirable NEBOSH National General Certificate CMIOSH or equivalent degree CFPA (Fire Safety) Diploma desirable Experience in Property, Motor Fleet and Liability risk surveying Thorough knowledge of risk identification, assessment and improvement techniques Strong presentation, negotiation and report-writing skills Highly numerate with ability to manage complex numbers and translate to actionable guidance

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
