Commercial Express is on a trajectory of fantastic growth, with ambitious plans and are looking for Commercial Underwriters to join our thriving MGA Business.

We have some fantastic opportunities which would suit either experienced Underwriters or individuals with an established insurance or broking background looking develop a career in underwriting. Ideal candidates will have an excellent working knowledge and understanding of Property Owners/SME and/or Liability insurance.

The Role:

Our Underwriters play a crucial role in contributing to the growth, new business, and profitability targets of our business.

In this role you will be negotiating new business terms, securing renewals, and managing changes to existing business, alongside providing an exceptional service to our brokers. You will have a good understanding of risk, the ability to analyse data, and making informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

Through effective trading behaviours develop, negotiate, and profitably underwrite new business, secure renewals, and action MTA (Mid-Term Adjustment) changes. Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers partners and stakeholders, ensuring excellent service and a positive customer experience. Analyse data and make informed decisions to manage risk effectively. Ensure all underwriting decisions adhere to established Underwriting and Governance practices including keeping accurate records and data. Plan, prioritise and manage own workload to meet customer need. Collaborating with sales, other lines of business, capacity partners, operations, and underwriting management to effectively deliver the Commercial Express proposition.

Cert CII qualified or progression towards - desirable. Strong communication and social skills that build effective relationships with colleagues, brokers, & other stakeholders Exceptional attention to detail, well organised and excellent verbal, and written communication skills. Knowledge of Underwriting principles and practice. A trading Mindset and Commercial Awareness. Ability to use initiative and prioritise deadlines and activities accordingly. Good risk analysis and technical skills. Desire to continuously improve technical and trading ability. Strong negotiation and customer service skills. A great team player. Supportive to others with an enthusiastic and positive attitude. Proficient in Microsoft word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
