Role Overview



The Commercial Manager will lead the development and execution of commercial strategies across Glacier Energy's Mechanical Solutions division. This role is responsible for managing contracts, pricing, tenders, and governance processes to ensure commercial activities support profitable growth and operational excellence. Acting as a key interface between clients, operations, and technical teams, the Commercial Manager will bring commercial rigour, risk awareness, and market insight to every stage of the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities



Manage the full lifecycle of commercial activities including tenders, proposals, pricing models, and contract negotiations. Collaborate closely with clients, sales teams, and internal stakeholders to develop competitive, compliant, and value-driven proposals. Review and negotiate contract terms, ensuring risk mitigation, commercial viability, and alignment with business objectives. Monitor contract and project performance, driving commercial accountability and identifying opportunities to optimise margins. Support forecasting, reporting, and budgeting activities, ensuring accurate tracking of commercial KPIs and financial outcomes. Maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted commercial advisor and point of contact throughout the project lifecycle. Contribute to strategic business planning by identifying commercial trends, risks, and opportunities in target markets. Ensure all commercial processes adhere to internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience



Proven experience in a commercial, contracts, or proposals role within a mechanical, fabrication, machining, or industrial services environment. Strong knowledge of contract structures, commercial risk management, and negotiation techniques. Demonstrated success in managing bids, tenders, and commercial project delivery in a client-facing capacity. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences. High level of commercial acumen with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP, estimating, or project management tools is beneficial. A degree or professional qualification in business, engineering, quantity surveying, or a related discipline is preferred.
