Commercial Manager
. The role will be based at our head office in
Cardiff, UK.
Key Responsibilities of the Commercial Manager:
Provide commercial input during the tendering and bidding stage;
Undertake contract reviews to check suitability of terms to ensure they are advantageous to the business;
Main contract management and administration, including periodic valuations and reports for internal and external requirements;
Supply chain management, including drafting of associated subcontractors and respective management of individual subcontractors accounts;
Commercial document control, including early warning and compensation events;
Assist and advise MSS business units on the best practice and procedure for
Cost capture and control.
Commercial reporting,
Planning and programme management.
Assist with management of cash flow on individual projects;
Support the business units within the MSS Group with contractual and commercial issues;
Work with business units project teams to support, guide and advise on the contractual and commercial aspects of projects;
Assist with the research and cascade of contractual guidance and best practice;
Identify potential major risk and commercial matters for MSS Group
Provide commercial strategy for maximizing Contract margins
Management of disputes and claims
Drafting Contracts for various businesses within the division
Experienced and proficient in assembling and administering NEC, ICC, JCT, and FIDIC contracts, and negotiating advantageous contract terms.
Knowledge in Value engineering
Procurement and Contract strategy
Assisting with rate derivation and pricing
Understand the market environment, keep abreast of industry news and activities
Work alongside procurement and operations to identify and exploit cost saving opportunities;
To ensure maximum flexibility and to reflect the Company's evolving needs, you may be asked to perform additional tasks that may be reasonably expected within your level of capability without additional remuneration.
Experience & Qualifications Required:
Degree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent).
MRICS or equivalent.
Extensive knowledge of ICC/NEC suite of contracts. Ideally with experience in JCT contracts.
Extensive post-graduate commercial experience in either civil engineering, construction or associated consultancy experience with a demonstrable track record.
Significant financial and commercial acumen.
Logical and methodical approach to contract management.
Significant experience in the setting-up and implementing contract management systems.
Significant experience in the production of reports, payment applications, payment certificates, financial reports and close out reports.
Experienced in drafting contractual correspondence, contract drafting and facilitating collaborative outcomes;
Experienced in developing and implementing procurement and contract strategies.
Extensive legal and contractual knowledge and experience.
A detailed understanding of the methods of measurement and common specifications used for the environmental consultancy / services sector.
