Job Description

Are you an experienced Commercial Leader looking to take on a high-profile role within the water sector? This is an excellent opportunity for a proven Commercial Manager to join a leading main contractor on a major capital delivery framework, overseeing a busy and established commercial team delivering essential infrastructure works.
The Role
As Commercial Manager, you will provide leadership and direction to the regional commercial function, driving commercial excellence across multiple projects. Working closely with senior stakeholders, your remit will include:

  • Leading and developing a commercial team to ensure effective delivery of framework commitments.
  • Driving accuracy in forecasting and ensuring robust cost control and fee protection.
  • Negotiating and managing contracts, ensuring governance is adhered to at all times.
  • Partnering with procurement teams to secure best value in supply chain engagement.
  • Building and maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships to support smooth project delivery.
  • Supporting the Senior Commercial Manager with commercial strategy, process development, and staff training.
  • Deputising for senior leadership when required.
About You
We are seeking candidates with:
  • Extensive commercial management experience within a contracting environment, ideally within the water or wider infrastructure sectors.
  • A strong track record at Managing Quantity Surveyor level or above, leading commercial teams on complex programmes.
  • Degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Excellent knowledge of contract management (NEC preferred) and risk management.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and manage high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency with IT-based reporting systems and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
