Job Overview: We seek a proficient Commercial Manager with a deep understanding of the NEC3 contract suite to provide the drive, analysis, processes and information to deliver the budgeted financial performance. You will provide exemplary commercial stewardship of the Contract; developing, maintaining and controlling commercial processes commensurate with the company management systems and corporate governance in conjunction with the Senior Commercial Manager and Central Commercial Teams. Oversee the Contract to ensure contractual reporting obligations to ensure contractual compliance. Strive to develop and secure opportunities and mitigate risks. Enforcement of the commercial framework in order to measure and guide contract performance, ensuring business processes and practice are conducted in accordance with the company Support Services corporate policies and in a way which protects and enhances the performance, professionalism, reputation and image of the company. Please note this role will be remote working but travel to our Birmingham Office once per month will be a mandatory requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Control and communicate expenditure and maximise income to achieve or exceed budgeted financial performance.
  • Be the Contractual Expert for the Contract, providing timely information, analysis, advice and support to the operational and administration teams.
  • Work closely with the operational and administration teams to ensure understanding of the key requirements which affect financial recovery and risk and the commercial / financial analyses of the contract.
  • Develop and support the operational team to ensure they have a solid appreciation of the contract, in addition to developing and supporting the contract commercial team and associated resources.
  • Provide support to identify and price variations (capital works and services) and enforce the requisite contractual processes to achieve proper payment.
  • Actively identify all significant risks and opportunities, prioritising activities to secure opportunities and mitigate risks, keep business fully informed and aware, advise and assist operations teams manage risk and secure opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain good responsive communication with the customer and any other end clients.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate production of Contractual Performance and Commercial Services reporting.
  • Contribute to the production delivery and agree the budgets, forecasts and monthly MBR\'s.
  • Demonstrate a clear and effective alignment with the operational objectives and the commercial interests of the company.
  • Create, maintain and enforce policies, procedures and governance to manage commercial risk.
  • Review, enforce and work to continually improve where appropriate commercial procedures, processes and working documentation.
  • Support the determination and accurate reporting of accruals and prepayments.
  • Perform any ad-hoc duties at the discretion of the Sector Director, Head of Operations, Business Unit Director or Senior Commercial Manager
What We\'re Looking For:
  • Profound knowledge of Contract arrangements in the Sector.
  • Experience with NEC3 Term Service contracts.
  • Background in building quantity surveying and FM sector.
  • Familiarity with systems like Maximo or other CAFM systems.
  • Proficiency in Contract Law, Dispute Resolution, and FM contracts.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Extensive Excel usage and financial/contract reporting skills.
Ideal Qualifications:
  • LLB or LLM (if you have legal qualifications).
  • RICS (Quantity Surveying Pathway) or a BSc in Quantity Surveying, Business or a related field
Who You Are:
  • Demonstrable experience of commercial management of Contracts worth \xc2\xa310m+ annually (Favourable but not essential)
  • Skilled in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Adept at managing relations with a multi-layered client team.
  • Degree-educated and preferably a member of a relevant professional body.
