Position Overview



We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager - Fresh Produce to drive our business growth and strengthen our position as a leading supplier of South Asian fruits and vegetables. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing commercial strategies, managing key accounts and expanding our market presence in the fresh produce sector.

Key Responsibilities



Commercial Strategy & Operations



Develop and implement commercial strategies to drive revenue growth and operational excellence

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing retail and wholesale customers

Negotiate pricing, contracts and terms with customers and suppliers

Optimize commercial processes to improve efficiency and profitability

Manage and grow the existing customer portfolio and identify new business

Monitor customer satisfaction and resolve any commercial issues promptly

Supply Chain & Procurement Collaboration



Work closely with procurement and logistics teams to ensure optimal product availability

Coordinate with suppliers, particularly in South Asian markets to secure quality produce

Forecast demand and plan inventory to minimize waste and maximize profitability

Ensure compliance with food safety standards and quality requirements

Financial Management



Analyze pricing strategies to optimize margins while remaining competitive

Monitor payment terms, credit control and reduce commercial risks

Prepare regular commercial reports and forecasts for management

Team Leadership



Lead and mentor the commercial/sales team members

Foster a high-performance culture focused on customer service excellence

Collaborate with cross functional teams to support the growth of this fast growing business.

Location:

Remote working is acceptable but ability to visit the customer especially in the London area is essential.

Role Requirements



Experience & Industry Knowledge



6-8 years of commercial operations management experience preferably in the fresh produce, fruits and vegetables.

In-depth knowledge of South Asian fruits and vegetables, with particular expertise in mangoes (varieties, seasonality, quality standards and grading)

Understanding of the fresh produce supply chain from farm to customer

Experience in B2B wholesale operations, preferably within the UK market

Proven track record of achieving sales targets and growing revenue

Skills & Competencies



Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills

Excellent relationship building abilities with customers and suppliers

Strategic thinking with ability to translate strategy into actionable plans

Financial literacy and analytical skills for P&L management

Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Desirable Requirements



Knowledge of other South Asian produce categories (spices, pulses, vegetables)

Understanding of organic and specialty produce markets

Established network within the UK wholesale/retail fresh produce sector

Experience with Indian mango import regulations and quality standards

Second language skills (Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, or Punjabi would be advantageous)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 52,000.00-56,000.00 per year
