Role Overview:
The
Commercial Manager
will be responsible for leading and optimising Wessex's commercial operations across customer support, order management, export, and private lift market development.
This role is both
strategic and hands-on
-- ideal for someone who can balance process excellence with entrepreneurial drive. You'll play a key part in shaping how Wessex grows its international dealer network and enters new markets, including the UK private home lift and stairlift sector.
You'll also work with directors to define and execute new business models, enhance customer experience, and embed modern commercial practices such as digital marketing, lead generation, and data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Operations
Oversee all office-based customer support and order management for lifts
Manage the full order lifecycle -- from enquiry through to delivery -- ensuring excellent customer communication and smooth coordination with internal teams. Own the customer relationship.* Own and refine sales administration and order processing systems (OK Point), ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and traceability.
Act as the internal escalation point for commercial issues, balancing customer satisfaction with company policy and profitability.
Export and Dealer Development
Take ownership of the existing export dealer network, strengthening relationships and improving engagement.
Develop a compelling Export Partner Proposition that makes it simple and attractive to work with Wessex.
Identify and onboard new international dealers in strategic markets.
Support dealers with pricing models, marketing materials, and training to drive mutual growth.
International travel maybe required to support export commercial strategy.
Private Market and New Business Development
Work with the directors to define and deliver the go-to-market strategy for Wessex's private home lift and stairlift offerings (seeking synergies with the UK DFG customer stream).
Help design scalable commercial processes, pricing structures, and support models.
Lead UK private market lead generation activity, coordinating with marketing and UK sale Manager / team to convert opportunities into profitable sales.
Support digital marketing initiatives (SEO, paid ads, content creation, social media, video campaigns, etc.) to drive brand visibility and demand.
Continuous Improvement and Collaboration
Champion our values, especially "customer centricity" by helping to positively influence company policies and behaviours towards our customers
Support process improvement across sales and order management.
Collaborate closely with the UK Sales, Installations, and Service teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
Provide commercial insight and reporting to directors, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
Deputise for other internal sales roles as needed to maintain operational continuity.

Export dealer network growth and revenue.
Private market lead conversion rate and order value.
Customer satisfaction and order processing accuracy.
Digital lead generation performance (website traffic, enquiries, cost per lead).
Internal process improvement metrics (order turnaround time, error reduction).
Customer satisfaction (google reviews, customer feedback, customer retention, etc)
Skills and Experience:
Ability to develop strong commercial partnerships / relationships
Proven account management experience
Proven experience in the development of new business (ideally export) in a B2B environment
Experience of developing B2C business
Digital communication and marketing skills
Process orientated
